In October of 2011, I happened upon a Craigslist ad for a car...if you know me at all, this isn't surprising. I showed my wife and some friends but didn't pursue it.
About 2 weeks later, I saw the ad had been reposted. I could no longer resist and sent the guy an email. It was still available and he was asking less than a grand for it!
The next weekend, I grabbed my cash, my wife and my dad to go take a look at it with the full intention of buying it. Showed up and the car was exactly as I was expecting - the body wasn't the greatest but the frame was good, the interior was all there and still in place and the motor swap that had been done sometime previous was something I'd enjoy playing with.
One thing that was made clear during the short test drive, was there was a hole in the radiator (2 actually) and so it was not drivable. The current owner, as part of our negotiation, agreed to have the car towed to my house (a 45 min drive) if I agreed to his price of $900. Deal.
Unfortunately, as I was expecting the car to show up the next day - it didn't. There were excuses and I was about to take another trip to go nail this guy to the wall when he called me to let me know he was on his way. While I was at work, he dropped it off and so during my lunch break, I ran home to welcome my newest family member (that's when the above photo was taken).
